Emerald Field Station
FERAL, along with ATREE and NCBS has a field station at the Emerald colony of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board. The EB has been very supportive of our field station which has allowed us to have all the amenities of a mordern town quite close to our field sites in the Nilgiri South forest. This field station caters largely to the Changing Water Cycle project, supported by the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Government of India.
Content
The station comprises of a small office-cum-lab and a couple of halls. There is a functional kitchen cum dining and a team of six can stay here comfortably. A major plus for the station is the nearly uninterrupted power supply and fairly reliable internet connectivity.
