Summary
The involvement of local stakeholders in natural resource management is key for its success. Use of tools for scientific data collection allows for better quality data that allows informed decision making. To facilitate these, this project aimed to build capacities of local stakeholders in the Kaliveli watershed.
Objectives
- To train village apprentices in planning and monitoring watershed projects
- To conduct socio-economic and bio-physical surveys
- To prepare GIS based maps as a tool for planning, managing and monitoring activities on these watersheds
- To prepare protocols for implementing similar watershed development programs

- Detailed information base created for the villages
- Protocols devised for a PRA-GIS hybrid system
