Landscape Ecology

A meadow in the Great Himalayan National Park.

Landscape ecology focuses on the reciprocal interactions between spatial pattern and ecological processes" (Turner, 2005) Our involvement in research in this field is both at a landscape level, where the surface hydology of Kalivelli's catchment area is of interest; and at the habitat level, where we are mapping various habitats, habitat-islands and corridors. The use of remote sensing and GIS is integral to our landscape research and we have, over the years, developed expertise in the use of software for modelling landscape level changes.
