Women's Self Help Groups (SHG) were initiated in 2002 with two groups and in the next couple of years the numbers grew. Today, there are 8 groups. Comprised mostly of socially and economically backward women, these groups range from 14 to 20 members. The intention behind forming these groups was to demonstrate the application of appropriate technologies for income generation in natural resource based projects. With the experience gained in the past years, we are now expanding the sphere of our activities to include:
Increasing our group base and include at least 30 more groups.
Liaisoning with the government and avail its schemes and participate in activities such as training workshops and exposure visits which they provide.
Working with women on a wider range of issues, from employment possibilities and income generation projects to awareness about health, hygiene, functional literacy and women’s rights.
