Every year the St Andrews Prize for the Environment attracts entries from all over the world on a diverse range of topics. A winning idea from Africa involved an innovative and sustainable sanitation solution, benefiting millions of people across the continent, and beyond. Another successful project brought sustainable lighting services and an improved livelihood to poor coconut farmers in the remote, mountainous areas of the Philippines. From Central America came an idea result resulting in rural women harnessing the benefits of the Maya Nut, and thereby improving family and environmental health.
