Sustainable systems to provide safe drinking water and adequate sanitation facilities for girl child around Chennai

Objectives

The aim of this project is to design and implement a sustainable system to address the problem of lack of safe drinking water and adequate sanitation facilities in 14 communities near Chennai. Targeted villages include Melrosapuram, MM Nagar, Karu Neelam, Kizhakaranai, Kaattur, Peramanur and Thirukaachur. As this project is conducted in partnership with TARA, FERAL will only take care of the implentation of 14 toilets while TARA will be responsible for the installation of 14 filters in these locations in order to ensure safe drinking water.

Installation of 14 filters providing safe drinking water and construction of 14 toilets providing clean toilet facilities to students and village community Establishment of systems for sustainability (including usage and maintenance of toilets and filters) by identifying and building capacity of people (village communities and school caretaker) who will assume ownership
