Influencing conservation and environmental policy through scientific research and lobbying has been one of our core objectives. We have partnered with implementing organisations in the past, but have decided to play a more direct role through action research and restoration projects since 2006.Recent projects with a policy focus include:
- the UNDP supported Post Tsunami Environment Initiative which seeks to document the status and build restoration protocols for coastal habitats
- the FAO-UNTRS supported Co-management and livelihood enhancement planning... which raises issues of sustainability in artisanal fishing and explores avenues for livelihood enhancement and diversification
- the DST-NRDMS supported "Landscape Assessment of the Kalivelli Basin" which attempts to utilise GIS and remote sensing tools to feed into large watershed development programmes of the government.
